Conditions We Treat

Pediatric Cardiology Consultants has five Central Florida locations and specializes in the diagnosis and management of all forms of congenital and acquired heart disease that affect children of all ages, from prenatal life to adulthood.

There are a number of diagnostic tools used to reach the specific diagnosis in each patient. These include the physical examination, electrocardiogram (ECG), echocardiogram (ECHO), Holter monitor, event monitor, exercise test and, in some cases, cardiac catheterization.

Once the diagnosis is established with certainty then the different treatment options are explored. These may be simple observation, medical therapy, interventional therapy, arrhythmia treatment or surgical therapy.

When the treatment of choice is surgery the pediatric cardiologist will discuss the case with the pediatric cardiovascular surgeon so that a consultation with the family can be arranged in preparation for the surgery. During the hospital stay to repair the condition, a multispecialty team of doctors will participate in the care of the patient, including the surgeons, cardiologists, intensivists, anesthesiologists, nursing personnel, etc. After discharge from the hospital, the child is followed on an outpatient basis primarily by the cardiologist at periodic intervals.

Our doctors treat both congenital and acquired heart disease: congenital heart disease is present at birth whereas acquired heart disease develops after birth.
